Community groups like the Msolwa Community had been saving and lending together for years, with contributions and loans tracked in registers and group chats. Members wanted to see their own numbers without waiting for a meeting, and committees wanted records nobody could dispute.
Build one platform any community can run as its own: branded in its name, with a member app and portal for contributions, loans and group activity, so every member can trust the numbers.
Each community has its own rules for contributions, lending and meetings, so the platform had to flex without becoming complicated. It also had to be simple enough for members using a smartphone app for the first time, and transparent enough for committees to rely on.
We built CommunityOS alongside a real, long-running community, shipping small and testing against actual contributions and loan requests. Configuration came before customisation, so a new community can launch under its own brand without new code.
CommunityOS now powers the Msolwa Community member app and portal at MCMG. Members track every contribution, request loans in minutes and get reminders for group meetings, all under the community’s own brand.
